Support to alumni is crucial for sustaining programmes in public health. Alumni workshop is one of the spaces created for an ongoing linkage and providing support to the alumni. The Alumni workshop is a space and opportunity for sharing the experiences of the fellows and to learn through collective reflection. In 2008, the alumni workshop was part of the 25th year Jubilee celebrations of CHC–SOCHARA. In 2009, the alumni met during the Training on Health and Equity by the International People’s Health University (IPHU). In 2010, alumni celebrated their annual gathering in Bengaluru to share their stories and experiences, challenges, perspectives they want to understand and debate. Recently, on SOCHARA's Silver Jubilee Celebrations, Alumni meet was organised with society members and field partner, mentors at st.Pope Hall,St. Johns Research Institute, Bengaluru on Dec 2015 to share their community Health and Public Health Journey.
The Fellowship programme has had more than 300 participants from different parts of India, which include regular fellows, flexi fellows and interns who contunie their links with SOCHARA even after the internship/fellowships. Over these years, SOCHARA has improved interaction and learning with our interns and alumni through regular alumni gatherings and intra communication circles like whatsapp, facebook and twitter. Over the years these fellows have gone on to do one or more of the following:
1. Joined Jobs with NGOs/CBOs
2. Start their own NGOs
3. Joined Govt jobs - under NHM
4. Go on to do further formal Post Graduation studies in Public Health, Community Health and related courses
5. Joined acdemic or research centres for field based projects
